Mexico has a wide network of roads and motorways. There are toll roads where you must pay as you drive through toll booths.

History of Mexico
Spain invaded the native Mexican civilizations in 1519, starting a 300 years long colonial period. Declaring Mexico's independence resulted in a war which finally led to a recognition of independence in 1821. A large scale growth of the economy began in the 1940's and lasted for several decades, however Mexico saw several economic crises after the 1970's. Joined the North American Free Trade Agreement in 1994.
