History of Ireland
English invasion of Ireland began in th 12th century and the Anglo-Irish struggle continued for almost 800 years. An independent Irish state was formed in 1922, while 6 northeastern counties (Northern Ireland) remained the part of the United Kingdom. Economic reforms and large investments since 1980 generated a prominent economic growth so now Ireland is one of the advanced members of the European Union.
