Located in the heart of Midtown Manhattan, the Algonquin is the hotel preferred by those who best appreciate New York -- a true landmark, with a tradition of elegance that began a century ago.

Superb accommodations and a gracious atmosphere make the Algonquin an oasis of polished sophistication amid the hustle and bustle of the city. The Algonquin was named one of "America's Ten Great Historic Hotels" by Historic Traveler magazine.

Hotel Information: The Algonquin Round Table set the standard for literary style and wit in its era. For one glorious decade beginning in 1919, the Round Table was the scene of scintillating daily lunch meetings by a group of literary legends, which included Dorothy Parker, George S. Kaufman and Robert Benchley.

The Algonquin cat:
In the late 1930s a rather disheveled feline wandered into the hotel searching for food and shelter. Ever the quintessential host, owner Frank Case welcomed the furry traveler into the Algonquin and a tradition was born.

Matilda, the current resident, is very popular with our guests. She has the run of the house (except in dining areas and kitchen) but prefers to oversee the comings and goings of the many guests who cross her threshold.

Room Information: All accommodations at the historic Algonquin Hotel recall an era when comfort and elegance were not subject to compromise. Handsome, understated furnishings are designed to be as restful to the eye as the body, while modern amenities ease the burdens of 21st century travelers.

Food & Beverage: The Oak Room- In the Algonquin's supper club you can return to the glamour of the 20s and 30s and experience today's brilliant young performers of the Great American Songbook. Dinner and Cabaret offered seasonally Tuesday through Saturday, by reservation only. Contact Hotel for showtimes and reservations.

Round Table Room- This newly restored restaurant evokes memories of a grand parlor. Savor the pleasures of dining on delicious retro dishes drawn from the Algonquin's culinary archives and inspired by legendary owner Frank Case's book, Feeding the Lions.

Breakfast is served Monday-Friday from 7 am to 10:30 am and Saturday-Sunday from 7am to 11 am. Lunch is served from 12 pm to 3 pm daily. Dinner is served Sunday-Thursday from 5 pm to 10:30 pm and Friday-Saturday from 5 pm to 11:30pm. A pre-theatre prix fixe menu is available from 5 pm to 7 pm seven days a week. Sunday brunch is also offered from 12 pm to 3pm.

Blue Bar- This popular New York bar is decorated with the artwork of longtime Algonquin regular Al Hirschfeld. The pieces, donated by The Margo Feiden Galleries, feature Broadway shows past and present, including Rent, The Sound of Music and Chicago. The menu offers pub fare and a fine selection of wine, cocktails and domestic and imported beer. The Blue Bar is open daily from 11:30 am until 1:30 am.
