BAR MIRAMAR

The Miramar Bar is located outside, with marvellous views over Barcelona and next to our 37m-long swimming-pool, where not only our Hotel's clients, but also the local people can enjoy our fresh salads, light dishes and refreshing drinks during the day and at night one can sip long drinks and exotic cocktails.

During the summer months, on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays you can enjoy ambient lounge music on our terraces with DJ Monsieur Pamplemousse.

LOBBY LOUNGE

In the Lobby Lounge you can relax in a unique, refined ambience while enjoying a wide selection of teas and coffees, wines and tapas. Located on the lobby level, the lounge also provides a wonderful haven for reading and relaxing.

Travel Information: Arriving in the city on the A-7 highway, then take the Ronda de Dalt (which is a large connecting road with several lanes that go above and below ground).

When coming from the Airport (Direction Llobregat – from Tarragona, Valencia or Sitges) on the A-7 highway, then follow the sign "Ronda de Dalt – Besos", leave the Ronda de Dalt at exit No. 6. After the traffic lights there is a large roundabout, go around halfway and take the first small road to your very right, until another small roundabout, from there go up-hill, following the signs to "Crta. de L'Arrabassada" / Sant Cugat. When coming from France or Girona Airport (Direction Besós) on the A-7 highway. Follow the green sign "Ronda de Dalt – Llobregat), once on the Ronda de Dalt leave at exit No. 5. Then go straight and pass five sets of traffic lights, reaching a small roundabout, turn right to the "Crta. de L'Arrabassada" / direction Sant Cugat and follow the road up-hill. Once on the Arrabassada road, drive up the hill on a curvy road with scenic views. After about four kilometres, you pass a petrol station on your right. Go on for another kilometre, then almost on top of the hill; there is a long and straight stretch, which leads to a crossing. Turn up left, following the hotel and Tibidabo signs.

Continue for a few hundred metres up-hill and the hotel is on your left.

Description: Gran Hotel La Florida is a Noucentista style building in Northern Barcelona. The property is surrounded by its gardens and the natural vegetation of the Collserola Park. In 2001 the Gran Hotel La Florida was rescued from abandonment and completely refurbished, the antique decorative and structural elements of the old hotel were recuperated and the the natural environment was respected. The Hotel Florida was inaugurated in 1925 and was the realization of o­ne man's dream, Dr. Andreu, who wanted to build Barcelona's best hotel in Barcelona's best location. The splendor, however, was not to last long. Like so many other things in Spanish life, the civil war took its toll o­n the hotel when it was used as a military hospital. Again mirroring Spanish society, from that point o­n the history of the building is a long and arduous o­ne. Over the years the hotel passed from hand to hand, with differing levels of success. During the 1950's Hotel La Florida was the place of choice for Barcelona's high society serving mainly as a summer residence for wealthy Catalan families and was the unofficial hotel of Barcelona's football club. Over the years Ernest Hemingway, James Stewart, George Sanders, Rock Hudson, Princess Fabiola and the Prince of Belgium stayed in this prestigious hotel. One of the most unique aspects of the Gran Hotel La Florida is its perfect synthesis of tradition and modernity, the work of artisans combined with new technologies and materials. Within La Florida wrought iron and antique carpentry blend easily with stainless steel and glass.
