Australia Transportation
The busiest airport in Australia is Sydney and all major cities are served by domestic and international airports. The vast distances make air travel the fastest way to reach distant destinations, but most places of Australia can be reached by train as well. An extensive local and long distance bus network is also available. Australia has a wide network of roads and motorways. There are toll roads where you must pay as you drive through toll booths. Vehicles drive on the left side of the road.

History of Australia
European discovery of Australia dates back to the 17th century, while first British settlement was founded in 1788. Several colonies were founded which united to form the Commonwealth of Australia in 1901. Australian troops took part in World Wars I and II. British rule formally ended in 1986, however Australia remains a constitutional monarchy and a Commonwealth realm. A referendum to establish a republic was rejected in 1999.
