Restaurants and Eating out in Wellington, New Zealand
The streets of Wellington New Zealand are quite a contradiction. You'll feel really relaxed strolling down the streets and yet you feel the hustle and bustle of the city as you observe your surroundings. This mixture can be said the same for the food here as well, some really elegant places with cheap prices, fusion foods and many others can be seen on the menu.

First up would be Logan Brown. One of Wellingtons leading restaurants, this elegant restaurant offers a first class fine dining menu located within a beautifully restored 1920's building on 192 Cuba Street. At Logan Brown, their golden rule for food would be simplicity and whereas for atmosphere, honesty. Fine dining with food to die for doesn't have to come with fancy ballroom dresses and gowns as proved in this place. A little on the pricy side but they do have their three-course pre theatre set menu's and lunches which are really of good value.

Are you the kind that loves buffets? If so, this next is for you. Whitby's Restaurant boasts to have the grandest buffet in all of Wellington, serving both international and local favourites... Create your very own dishes in any way you want it done with the choice of dozens of fresh and tantalizing ingredients right in front of you. Located at The James Cook Hotel Grand Chancellor, this reasonably priced restaurant will leave you filling absolutely full and satisfied no matter breakfast, lunch or dinner.

Another great restaurant to try out while you're in the city area would be The Ambeli. This cozy restaurant combines Italian and Greek cuisine to come up with the perfect Mediterranean blend. The ambiance of the restaurant projects a feeling of home and relaxation, with warm colors and beautiful pictures of the owners' families. Their wine lists are extensive for us, and fortunately, they're just as reasonably priced as the food here. The menu changes ever so often but the quality and great tasting food stay the same. Located on 18 Majoribanks Street, this restaurant even offers "The Ambeli Tasting Plate", which gives you a sample of all their fantastic dishes on the menu, so you know you won't be disappointed.

Moving away from the city area, the selection of great food and places to eat still continues. If you're journeying to the waterfront, stop by the famous chain of One Red Dog restaurants, this being located at Steamship Building, North Queens Wharf. Though the newest edition to this hugely popular restaurant chain, the food here is nonetheless great. Sample their original pizza's and pasta dishes while overlooking the waterfront, watching ferries and boats come and go.
