Gold Coast Holidays
Christmas and the New Year is a great time to go to Australia's Gold Coast for an annual holiday. This region is one of the country's most popular holiday destinations because there is so much for the family to see and do and Gold Coast accommodation comes in such an amazing array that will fit any budget. Getting there is really very easy as it has its own airport at Coolangatta or you can fly in to Brisbane from many overseas destinations and then take one of the many shuttle services that operate to the coast. The Gold Coast has been built on the coastal plain that lies between the Great Dividing Range and the Pacific Ocean. The mountains here lie close to the coast and the coastal strip is narrow which means that nothing is far from the glorious beaches that make the region so popular.

The Gold Coast is the Surfing capital of Queensland. There are dozens of sensational patrolled beaches, each with its own surf life saving club just waiting for you to enjoy. Regular surf carnivals are a magnet for locals and tourists alike as thousands come to watch the iron man contests and the spectacular surf boat races. Many modern surf sports are now attraction a crowd of participants with jet ski's, kite surfing and wind surfers all becoming more numerous on the beaches. Main Beach at the Gold Coast's northern end is the most popular for these. Surfers Paradise beach is the most popular with the tourists as it is situated within walking distance of the bulk of the best accommodation and the Cavill Ave mall caters for all the non beach lovers who want to shop till they drop or experience the ambience of the many cafes and restaurants that abound here. Just to the south and now rivaling Surfers is Broadbeach. Once again there is plenty of luxury accommodation, a great beach, Jupiters casino and fantastic shopping.

Every tourist to the region will want to visit the Gold Coasts many theme parks. These are a must for family's visiting the coast as they will keep the kids entertained for days. Regular shuttle services operate from the Gold Coast and will pick up from accommodation and drop back at the end of the day. Seaworld is located close by on the Southport Spit. You can stay at Seaword Nara resort and then walk next door to experience the brilliant aquatic displays, swim in the waterpark or participate in the adventure rides that the park is famous for. Dreamword is up to date with the best rides in the world and also has a wildlife park where you can cuddle a koala or visit many other unique Australian wildlife species. At Movieworld, the adventure rides take adrenaline to a new level and the little kids will love the cartoon characters that mingle with the crowd. No child will be satisfied until you have done all the parks.

If the theme parks are not your kettle of fish then there is still lots to see and do. The Southport Broadwater is a great place to explore on a tall ship and whale watching and fishing charters abound. The Gold Coast hinterland is filled with places of great scenic beauty and here the rainforests and waterfalls are really worth a visit. All in all, the Gold Coast is a place where you can do as much as you like when you like or simply do nothing at all lazing on one of the best beaches in the world.
