Weekend At Lake Tahoe
On any given weekend, traffic comes to a practical standstill every Friday evening on Highway 101 in Northern California, and again on Sunday night. For people of the Bay Area, such a phenomenon is no surprise. It is the weekly trek for the weekenders of Lake Tahoe, one of the most popular mini-vacation in the area. Staying for the weekend in a cabin at Lake Tahoe is a time-honored tradition for those living in and around San Francisco. For many, there is no greater way to get away from the hassles and stress of daily life with a relaxing stay in a Lake Tahoe cabin.

Visitors love Lake Tahoe because it is close to home, but still far enough away to be a vacation. The trip to Lake Tahoe from the Bay Area is quick and relatively easy, with well-traveled roads for the duration of the drive. Even though it is close to home, it is far enough removed from any major city that it feels like another world away. Visitors can feel that they're somewhere special, away from the rest of the world. Fortunately, the entire Lake Tahoe area, especially South Lake Tahoe, has all the conveniences and familiarity of modern life, so families can easily enjoy their weekend. They don't have to worry about any difficulty driving around Lake Tahoe or the inconvenience of not having modern technology at their disposal.

In addition to modern convenience, Lake Tahoe boasts some truly spectacular natural beauty. It is, by far, one of the most gorgeous scenic spots in the area. Lake Tahoe offers something for any nature lover, with mountains, hiking trails, and of course, the pristine lake itself. For those who want to advantage of such a magnificent example of nature, they can hike the beaten paths, fish or sail in the lake, climb the mountains, go parasailing, kayaking, or river rafting.

Of course, visitors in winter often come for the world-famous skiing and snowboarding. Winter actives also include traditional sleigh rides. Visitors who want to be active but want more relaxing activities can try their skills at a nearby golf course, or unwind in the swimming pool. Anyone wanting to test their luck can head over to a casino, which feature top-rated entertainers performing regularly as well. Shoppers can enjoy the many shops in the area, including a factory outlet shopping mall.

There is so much going on at Lake Tahoe on any given weekend that everyone can find something that they would like to do, regardless of what the season or their preferred method of relaxation.

There are plenty of travel packages available from the many Lake Tahoe resorts and hotels. Whether visitors want to plan a romantic getaway for two, an active weekend for the entire family, or even a wedding, they can find a quick and easy travel package that's right for them. No matter what time of year or the activity, a trip to Lake Tahoe is the perfect weekend away from the day-to-day.
