Currency: The Kronor (kr)... 100 Ore to the Krona. Bills are 5,10,50,100,1000,10,000. Coins are 5,10,25,50 Ore and 1,2,5 Kroner.
Language: Swedish, but everyone speaks English because it's required in schools.

Things to buy: Orrefors crystal, handicrafts, and chocolate.
Food: Try the famous smorgasbord. Stromming is the small Baltic hering. Goose is also popular, and is salmon and trout. Food can be very expensive.
Drink: The National drink is Aquavit. Drink it well chilled in 2 or 3 swallows. Swedish Punch is a sweet run beverage. Beer comes in 3 grades of alcoholic content and is recommended because the stronger spirits can be very expensive. Alcohol may be purchased only through government-controlled outlets. ID required.
Rest rooms: Located in all rail, bus, air terminals. Very clean.
Tipping: The service charge will be added in restaurants, but one should round off the bill to the nearest Krona. For evening meals in restaurants, add 7-10% more. Tip the bellhops, porters and chambermaids at the hotel. No tips are required for guides in castles, etc. For taxi, round off the fare to the nearest 10 Kroner.
Arlanda International Airport: If you arrive here, there's an SAS Bus which takes you to the city terminal across from Central Station. Take a taxi from there to your hotel. Taxi's are very expensive.
Miscellaneous: You will pay a set-price each time you exchange money, no matter how much you exchange. The Forex Exchange offices give better rates than banks. Always check for a senior discount in Sweden (and all Scandinavian countries). It's about 50% less on transportation and entrance fees.
