In the other direction is the Murcia San Javier (MJV) airport. It is only 25.8 km from the middle of the city. The drawback to this airport is that it is much smaller than Alicante. After you are landed and gather your luggage, there are a number of busses and taxis that can get you to the hotel or apartment where you will be staying. If you prefer traveling on your own, there are also a number of car rental services that operate out of the airport.
