Paris Short Stays Leave You with a Longing for More
As the capital of France, Paris is a large city; it is also one of the best European city destinations. Many couples decide to take short stay in Paris as it is probably the most romantic city in the world; for most visitors, this is just enough time to see what it has to offer.

This city is also equally well known for its Gothic architecture and markets; including famous sights like the Eiffel Tower and the Arc de Triomphe to name just two internationally famous landmarks. Visitors to Paris as well as its citizens can travel around Paris easily; the Metro underground system is easy to understand, efficient and reaches everywhere even the most enthusiastic tourist would want to visit.

The Eiffel Tower at over 300 meters tall is a magnificent steel structure; it can be seen throughout most locations around the city. Illuminated at night it dominates the city's skyline; it is possible to take organized tours which tell the story of the Tower and the history of France.

The famous Paris Avenue 'the Champs Elysees' must also receive a visit; if you want to see famous, designer label shops and the restaurants, this is the place. This avenue is well worth a visit to see how the wealthy live; it is also where most of the five star hotels are situated but thankfully hotels tend to be cheaper once you move away from the city center.

The city's famous museum, the Louvre is huge and worth a visit if you have the time; it holds in excess of 300,000 pieces of art, which cannot possibly be seen in a single visit. Even on a short stay in Paris, this is a an art lovers paradise; some of the most important art collections in the world are here including Leonardo da Vinci's world famous Mona Lisa. Paris has always been a magnetic destination for artists; painters like Monet and Picasso spent many years here and a large number of their art works can be seen in Paris today.

Paris is also the home of the equally famous Arc de Triomphe which Napoleon had constructed in the early part of the 19th century; the names of his generals engraved upon it to honor them and his troops. Many people do not know that an observatory was included in the design which affords great views of the surrounding area; including all the avenues of which it is a focal point.

You will not be at a loss for places to visit whilst in the city; although no trip would be complete without seeing these, they are probably best viewed as part of a guided tour, some of which are actually free. A short stay in Paris will definitely be a busy one even if only a few sights are visited; anything that's missed will have to take a rain check.
