Paris, the capital of France, is a land of multi-faceted charms. It is a travel destination ideal for backpacking individuals, moonstruck couples as well as happy families. With its many tourist attractions, rich culture, art and fashion scene, everyone can surely find something to enjoy in Paris.
One must-see family destination within Paris would be Disneyland Resort Paris. This is located in Marna-la-Vallee. The resort consists of a few main sections – Disneyland Paris, Walt Disney Studios Paris and Disney Village. These have different attractions and features, so be sure to try and cover all of them on your trip there. One thing is for sure – your children will have the time of their lives at Disneyland Resort Paris. Take note that the queues for the rides are quite long – ranging from a few minutes to forty-five minutes, so you may want to allocate one whole day to fully enjoying all the attractions there.
Another must-see is of course the world-famous Eiffel Tower. This is commonly touted as one of the wonders of the modern world. Once you are directly in front of it staring at its intriguing architecture, it will be easy to understand why. Many families travel up the escalators to the very top of the Eiffel tower, where you can soak in the sights and sounds of Paris through the coin-operated binoculars.
If your family group does not consist of young children, visiting The Louvre is also a stop you might want to include on your itinerary. This is a world-famous museum with a breathtaking collection of art in all shapes, sizes and from all time periods. Even if you are not an art enthusiast, you will be amazed at the range offered. Visiting the Louvre will surely make for a thoroughly education and enriching cultural experience for the whole family.
Paris' flea markets may also make for an interesting family experience. These are located on the fringes of Paris and are famed for offering goods such as antiques, apparel and houseware at very reasonable prices. Your family can enjoy browsing through the many different goods on display even if you do not intend to buy anything. It is best to visit in spring when the flea markets are more festive and colourful.
Visiting the Chateau de Versailles is another option you may want to consider. This was the home of the Sun King – Louis XIV. It has a rich history and features splendid architecture and artwork. There are guided tours that are both educational and interesting. Be sure to check out the times of these tours before heading over.
