Las Terrazas in Cuba: Natural Beauty Beyond Words
Pinar del Río is the most western province in Cuba and it is known as the earth in which the best tobacco in the world is cultivated: the cigar. However, this land also has other beautiful places which are very visited by all the people that arrive in the island due to the beauty of its nature.

In this province, there is an incredibly wonderful place: the community the Terraces (Las Terrazas). This community was built in the decade of the 70 so that people that lived in the area that is a little far from the provincial capital, did not have to go there when they had any health problem. Today is one of the most visited tourist centers in the island for its people's warmth and the beauty of its places.

For this land the San Juan River streams and it possesses crystalline and very cold waters that are very welcomed by all the people that visit the place due to the tropical heat of Cuba that can be burning in occasions. Also, it has a lake that invites you to go into its waters at any time of the day, besides that the landscape that skirts it is impressive.

The famous Cuban singer Polo Montañés was born and raised in this area of the country. It was in one of its restaurants, while he was singing, when a music producer who was passing over there "discovered" him and launched Polo to world fame. Unfortunately, Pole died in a traffic accident, but his family still continues in the community and his house at the moment is a very visited museum, where you can see his personal belongings and you can share with its family. The musical group that he directed did not disintegrate and today you can enjoy its music in the same place in which Polo was discovered some years ago. It is an unforgettable time.

This community is known by the ecotourism. All the houses were built in tune with the nature, and its inhabitants are very proud of it, that is the reason why they are very worried about its hygiene. The people of the community also demand to their visitors that they must respect the environment and that they take care of all the present ecosystems.

Nature here has taken control of everything. People feel like they are just guests and they try to damage the very least the environment and they feel that nature thanks them in return. Having the chance of being in a paradisiacal place like this is just one shot you can have.

At just an hour from Havana City, you can spend a wonderful day during your vacations. You can take a bath in the waters of the river, have a delicious coffee and have a lunch or a typical Cuban dinner, be a part of a community that loves the nature that surrounds it and takes care of it. Las Terrazas is simply a beautiful place to make ecotourism during your holidays. Do not miss this opportunity of being in contact with nature.
