Getting to Bali in Indonesia
Bali is an Indonesian island that is one of the most popular tourist spots in Asia. With its countless idyllic resorts, scenic beaches, endless shopping opportunities and fascinating culture, the island has infinite charm for anyone looking for a place to relax and rejuvenate. Bali has seen a steady growth of its tourism sector despite terrorist attacks in recent years, and remains one of the best places in Asia to holiday in.

By Air - Visitors flying to Bali will land at Ngurah Rai International Airport. This is located close to the cities of Kuta, Jimbaran and Denpasar. The airport is one of the busiest airports in Indonesia, and caters to both domestic as well as international flights. There are separate terminals for each, so do take note of which to go to when you are arriving and / or departing.

You will be able to fly to Bali on a direct flights from most of Asia as well as Australia. If you are coming from other major cities in Indonesia such as Jakarta, Surabaya or Makassar, you should also be able to get a direct flight. Great deals on flights from Jakarta can be found on Expedia. There are also a variety of budget airlines serving this airport, such as Jetstar Asia from Singapore, Air Asia from Malaysia and Mandala Airlines from Hong Kong and Taipei.

Once you have cleared immigration, you can get to your location by using a pre-arranged pick-up or a prepaid taxi service provided by the airport. You may also use to take the taxis waiting outside; however, do take note that you may be overcharged and you might want to insist for them to charge using the meter. You may also want to hop onto buses that will take you to Tegal bus station in central Denpasar. The journey will take about an hour. From here, you should be able to reach your intended location fairly easily.

By Bus - Most major cities in Java have direct bus services to Bali. These are quite cheap to purchase and widely available. However, the duration of the journey is quite considerable as many of these buses make numerous stops along the way. You may want to consider paying a little more for a luxury coach that will allow you to reach Bali in comfort as well as in record time.

By Boat - You can get to Bali via ferry from Ketapang, which is on mainland Java. The ferry service is reasonably priced, runs frequently and the journey takes only half an hour. There are also tentatively plans to have ferry services from Australia to Bali via the Timr Ferry service. If confirmed, this will be a convenient and interesting way to begin your Bali vacation.
