Flying to Egypt: A Brief Guide to Getting to Egypt
Egypt is a land of unparalleled intrigue, with its rich history, culture and astounding array of attractions that visitors from all over the world take pains to see at least once in their lifetime. These attractions include the Egyptian Pyramids, the Sphinx, the Valley of Kings and many others. The list goes on and on, and this may help to explain why Egypt welcomes thousands of visitors each year.

Before getting to Egypt, you must ensure that your visa is in order. Those who are flying these as tourists will need to get travel visas. These last for about three months and are granted on either single or multiple entry basis. Those who are travelling to Egypt for other reasons such as work or study will need to get an entry visa. Visitors from some countries may be able to purchase their visa on arrival while others may need to get a pre-arrival visa. You are strongly advised to prepare in advance and ensure your visa is in order before flying over as you may not be allowed to pass the immigration at the airport without a valid visa.

Once your visa issues have been cleared up, you can now decide how you want to reach this land of limitless charm.

By plane: Egypt has several major airports – Cairo International Airport, Alexandria Nozha, Luxor International Airport, Aswan International Airport, Hurghada International Airport, Sharm El Sheikh International Airport and Burg Al-Arab International Airport. Of these airports, Cairo International Airport is the most popular one. It is also the primary airport catering to Egypt Air, which is the country's national carrier. Luxor International Airport is also increasing in popularity. Of course, the airport you choose will also depend on your intended destination. If you want to visit Alexandria or Sharm El-Sheikh, the corresponding airport would be the best choice.

By car: Both petrol and rentals are relatively cheap over there so if you are thinking of entering Egypt by car, it might be a good idea. However, do take note that you have the proper visa for this route of entry and also take note that you have to be at least twenty-five years old to rent a car over there.

By bus: If you are from Israel, you may want to hop onto a bus which can take you to Egypt from Jerusalem or Tel Aviv.

By boat: Ferry services are available from Jordan, Sinai, Sudan as well as Saudi Arabia. This makes for an interesting travel option.
